How Slagomite is Used
Slagomite is used in all types of soda-lime-silica glass production. Slagomite usage depends on factors such as glass color, glass composition, and local raw materials. The level of Slagomite is expressed as a percentage of the dry sand weight. In flint container glass, Slagomite is typically 6-7% of the dry sand weight. In green container glass, it is 10-13%, while in amber glass, up to 18% of the dry sand weight is used
In float glass, Slagomite is typically used at 4-8% of the dry sand weight. Glassmakers worldwide, ensures the optimum level of Slagomite is utilized to improve redox control in the furnace and final glass composition.
The general pattern of % usage is estimated to silica sand weight, expressed as below:
Clear Container | 06-07 % |
---|---|
Amber Container | 18-22 % |
Green Container | 10-13 % |
Float Glass | 03-08 % |
